Let's Talk : Lashes

What are semi-permanent eyelash extensions?

Semi-permanent eyelash extensions are natural-looking, synthetic eyelashes applied one by one to each individual natural lash. These eyelash extensions were developed to mimic your natural lashes.  A natural look is achieved by a meticulous and artful application of synthetic lashes, all applied one by one to your natural lash.

Are eyelash extensions safe?

I received training by Xtreme Lashes, who has ensured that all of their products, application procedure, and adhesives are exclusively developed to the highest standards for safety, quality, and performance by a team of scientists, physicians and expert lash stylists.  The primary ingredient in the adhesive is the same used by plastic surgeons in the U.S. for suture-less wound closure.  Eyelash extensions are never applied directly to your eyelids therefore will not harm your eyelids or natural lashes. During this pain-free procedure, you will recline comfortably with your eyes closed throughout the application.

How long is the procedure?

Depending on the number of lashes applies; application may vary from 90-150 minutes to complete. Re – lashes to occur 2 weeks after (not to exceed 3 weeks), for approximately 60-75 minutes.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

When properly applied and maintained, our extensions can last indefinitely with touch-ups done every 2 weeks.  A natural lash typically falls out every 60-90 days and is replaced with the growth of a new eyelash.  At any given moment, each of your natural eyelashes is at a different stage of its life cycle.  As your natural lashes shed, the extensions that are attached also shed, and new lashes begin to grow.  Therefore it is expected that lashes can shed post session as well.

With re-lashes, new extensions are added to the newest lashes to replace those that have shed to maintain a full, natural look.  Wake up to longer, thicker and fuller lashes every day!

What type of procedure is applied?

Black Beauty Bar specializes in classic application. This is procedures involves the application of adhering a single synthetic lash to each individual natural lash.

This should not be confused with the following:

Volumination:

Volumation is the technique of adding multiple eyelash extensions to one single natural eyelash to create depth, volume, and texture to calculate accurate design opportunities.

Cluster Lashes:

Cluster lashes are clumps of lashes bound together in a “v” shape. Clusters come in various densities as well as lengths and application time is shorter than individual lashes.

Let's Talk : 3D Areola/Nipple Repigmentation

What is Areola Repigmentation?

Areola Repigmentation also known as Nipple Repigmentation or nipple tattooing, is considered cosmetic tattooing of the skin. Cosmetic Tattooing is inserting pigment below the epidermis, within the dermal layer of the skin. Due to the formulation of cosmetic pigments, color is expected to fade at least 1/3, leaving a very natural soft look within the design area.

What is 3D Areola Repigmentation?

For clients that opt out of nipple sparing surgery, they have the option to have a custom design nipple tattoo. With this design, the artist can create the illusion of protrusion of the nipple using multi dimensional layering of color and design techniques.

Does it hurt?

Some clients express concern related to the depth of the needle and its ability to penetrate the implant. The needle penetrates only the 3 layers of the skin (dermal layer); therefore does not reach the implant. Keeping our clients comfortable is of upmost importance. We apply topical anesthetics and effective pain management techniques throughout the session. At least 98 % of breast reconstruction clients feel no pain; while 2% implant, we will apply topical anesthetics.

Color & Design Selection

We will work very closely with you to identify the color and design of your choice. This includes utilizing design tools & techniques, detailing the color process, and receiving client’s approval on both color and design before moving forward.

How long does it last?

Initial fading will occur within the first 10 days. As long as this area is not exposed to sun or tanning, there is no follow up session. Creating the freedom of a design that can last a lifetime!

Is Physician Approval Required?

Some clients will require physician’s approval due to related illness(es) or post surgery status. Your technician will have you complete a medical profile that will be discussed at the time of consultation or appointment.
Note: Typically clients who have undergone breast reconstruction surgery will need to wait 6 weeks post surgery before receiving a tattoo.
